I am here to help in questions regarding commercial construction lead services. All you have to do is ask.
You want to check out www.fbo.gov. This is the government website. I agree that fedbizops.com does not look legit.
Mike- you are correct, wasn't sure if the FedBiz Ops site was correct, but fbo.gov is...Thank you!
I was with CMD (Construction Market Data, now Reed Construction Data) for 13 years and was responsible for training all architectural (Planning) bid and negotiated researchers. While there, I wrote a three day training program that I gave all over the country for our researchers and sales people. Since leaving CMD after we sold the company in 2001, I started my current company, Construction Market Consultants, a management consulting firm specializing in business development, sales, marketing, profitability consulting as well as executive placement and recruiting. Now that the 'commercial' is out of the way...on with the discussion :)There are many, many 'Ma and Pa' services out there and though I have never met Guy, have no connection with CDC, I can tell you that I have used their service and consider it one of the very best.We do offer a solution that is different in that, as crazy as this sounds, we do not sell it to everyone. It is called 'Building New Business - General Contractors - Level 1' and it is an interactive solution for building a pipeline (Leads). We call in ‘interactive’ because we don’t just sell it to you and leave you alone, but rather, we make sure you are using it properly much like a personal trainer would at a gym.Guy can probably attest to this but what CDC, Reed, F.W. Dodge offer is a very enticing product/service. Where all these companies really make their money is when a company 'renews' their subscription. To renew, they have to find value. To find value, they have to utilize the leads properly. Our analogy is this: 'Buying a lead service is much like buying a Bowflex. Buying a Bowflex will not get you in shape. However, the continued and effective use of it will.'I hope this helps...Bobby
FedBizops. com is a free government service for bid leads, there is also Datafax, REED Bulletin, Demandstar/Onvia. All these are subscriptions that cost, but a lot of municipalities have free notifications for RFP's or FRQ's.Where are yo located?
I have already spoken to someone with CDC and know that you do not serve my area. Who does? I would like to take a more active role in searching out leads for my company but I don't know how short of going to plan meetings, reading the paper and going to the building dept. to look at recently issued permits. Is there a better way than cold calling architects & potential developers? I litterally feel like my ear is to the groung but the ground is cold and hard.
Hi Maria,There are alternatives to CDC. We have sister companies www.bidtool.net and www.datafax.net that serve different areas as well. There are national brands such as bidclerk and reed construction data, however, the depth of the large national brands is limited and the information may not always be accurate or confirmed with the project owner.I am not familiar with FedBizops. I went to their site and it does not seem legitimate to me.Your role of searching out leads is what lead services do on your behalf which frees up much of your time and allows you to focus on securing business and not securing leads. It will help to know where you are looking for work. Although CDC may not cover your area in need, we may be able to help you find a service that does.Best,Guy
